The tradition continued as we headed out to see the Temple lights at the Mesa Temple. This time we were lucky enough to have Morgan join us!! Nothing better than Mexican food, lights and hot chocolate and donuts after... Ok, two out of three will have to do. Sorry about dragging you all over town in search of donuts, Morgan :)

Phew... I know we are so behind! I figure I'll start with updates from my phone's camera roll :)

First up the not so "fun" memory of Luke's many trips to the doctor, urgent care and late night runs to Phoenix Children's. The good news... He is perfectly happy and healthy and has no recollection of the many pokes, prods, catheters and chest X-rays he was "lucky" enough to go through. The bad news is Adam and I are fortunate to relive this over and over as the bills keep coming ;)

We wont tell you that Adam may have teared up a little while watching Quincy dance ;) but here she is in her dancing debut. She's the little one on the far left. We told her before the show that if she went up and danced on stage that we would go out for ice cream after. As soon as we picked her up, the first words out of her mouth were "let's go get the ice cream now!" Of course we think she rocked it out, but we're not biased at all ;) She's a full year younger than the rest of her class… not too bad for a two year old, huh?!

After being gone exactly a month, it sure is good to be home! As you can imagine, we are a little busy right now, but I wanted to get a quick update in and post some pics of our two favorite little people :)

Luke had his two week appointment yesterday and here are his stats:
Weight - 7 pounds 9 oz
Height - 20 1/2 inches
Head - 13 1/4 inches

To say we are head over heels in love with our family of four would be an understatement! Unpacking suitcases, a months worth of laundry, sleep and computer time can wait…

This is Adam posting (Sunny wanted me to make that disclosure in case I say anything embarrassing). With that out of the way, it's no secret that Quincy has a strong love for music. If there is not any music playing when we get in the car, for example, she asks us to turn some on. We also catch her dancing to music on a regular basis these days.

A few days ago, I was watching a concert on TV with Quincy and we captured her "participation" on film. It seems she was nearly as excited as I was to see Dave Grohl (former Nirvana drummer) on drums. Excuse her messy hair. I think it's rockstar-ish of her. :) Anyway, on to the evidence:

Where can you go if you are looking for cooler weather, 40 + crazy people that you love and claim to be related to MOST of the time, an 81st birthday party, a rodeo complete with bull riders and a clown (and no, we're not talking about Adam haha!), fireworks, hornet stings (ok… maybe Adam would be ok leaving those out next year! Poor guy!!) AND the 3rd Annual Family Olympics?! Our family cabin!! For the Annual Family Olympics, we split the family into 2 teams - Team Red and Team Blue - and compete in various outdoor games. Some of the games include relays, volleyball, wiffle ball, pie eating, football toss, etc.

Oh yes… we take things seriously! Sunny's uncle running in the torch to kick off the Games :)

Everybody Clean Up!

So somehow I have managed to literally FILL up my Mac. It could possibly be the 5,000 plus pictures I have taken of Quincy (ummm... no joke! She MAY just be the most photographed child EVER) or the fact that I have the MOST random junk ever saved onto my computer. Getting back to the point, I promised Adam I would clean up the computer this week so he could fill it back up with the million songs (okay, I'm exaggerating a bit) that he buys from i-tunes. Yes, now you see we both have problems... I with the pics and Adam with the songs. There you have it, we're not perfect after all. ;)

I thought you all might enjoy some of the contents I have located while doing said cleanup job.

The nearly two week celebration of Quincy's birthday is over... We are so grateful to all our friends and family who love and spoil Quincy! She had an amazing birthday and still wakes up every morning saying "birthday party today?" Sorry kiddo the party is over until next year... We are already trying to think up a theme for next year's party. Yes... we may need help! ;)

At her two year doctor's appointment she weighed in at 24 pounds (20th percentile) and 33 inches long (26th percentile). Still a tiny thing with a noggin' in the 60th percentile. :)

We were so lucky to have Adam's parents come down and spend the week before Easter with us! Seriously, Quincy was in heaven!! The morning after they left, she went searching the house for Nonna and Poppy and spent the next week asking where they were... It was a sad day for all of us when they left!

The Easter bunny came a day early to our home and left a million eggs, a HUGE basket (yes, that is what happens when you are an only child lol) and TOO much candy! We weren't sure if Quincy would understand the concept of finding eggs, so the bunny made it VERY easy (as in so easy you would step on an egg every few feet!)

She made a haul and, of course, her favorite thing happened to be the $.99 cent wind-up rabbit... Next year, we - I mean the bunny - will save his money and just go for the dollar item! :)

Easter Sunday we headed to church. Quincy wore her new Easter dress complemented by Mom's BEAUTIFUL necklace, which she HAD to wear to complete the outfit! :) After church, Sunny's grandma hosted her traditional Easter dinner, complete with another egg hunt and pinata. Don't ask for us to explain the pinata thing... we have had one for every holiday as long I can remember!! ;)

We (I'm talking both Adam and myself) are wimps when it comes to the cold. Yes, I know Adam was born in raised in Utah, but he is now a true Arizonan and whines about the cold as much as I do. :) Quincy, on the other hand, still has Idaho blood running through her LOL and can't understand WHY we won't let her go out and play! Seriously, we are breaking records here (yes, I know we can't complain... we do watch the news and see what is going on around the country). So while we are "stuck" inside, poor Quincy has her nose pushed to the door half the day begging to go "ow-side." So what do I do?? I grab my camera and snap away. The only positive thing about the cold is that we get to bust out the kitty cat hat. :) By the way... how stinking cute is she?!?!

One of the highlights of the trip was being able to see Morgan, her parents and to meet Jantzen! Poor guy... Adam was ready to find out exactly "what his intentions were." LOL He passed his "test" and we think they make a GREAT couple! :) Now, dinner with a toddler at the Cheesecake Factory, in the snow, with NO place to go outside... that's another story!! We love you guys and we are so glad we had a chance to visit!!!

The Story of the Donut...

A few month ago when the latest Pottery Barn Kids catalogue arrived in our mailbox, Sunny fell in love with this donut costume. The price was somewhere around 100 bucks and there was NO way she was going to pay $100 bucks for a Halloween costume! (and you really think Adam would go for it?!?!?) Anyway... to make a long story short, she thought to herself (yes, she talks to herself on a regular basis and don't pretend that you don't do the same! LOL) "I can make this." Ok, so Sunny has NEVER in her life even sewed on a button let alone a freakin' donut costume! But being the thrifty wife and mother she is, she set out to buy a sewing machine, fabric, thread (she even had to call up a friend to ask her what kind!) and all the goods to put together a donut. I know you are thinking to yourself it would have been cheaper to just buy the costume at that point and yes, you are right! Seriously though... look at that picture above... TOTALLY worth it!! :) Yes, we are well aware that Quincy will hate us when she is older, but in the meantime she LOVES her little donut costume and still carries it around the house.

October is birthday month in our family! It seems like Adam's entire family was born in October. :) We celebrated Adam's birthday in style complete with a Razzleberry pie (Adam's current favorite) and a number one candle (ok, we were out of candles and had to pull Quincy's candle out from her memory box. But we all know the real reason is because Adam is number one in our books!!)

Quincy is a HUGE fan of anything having to do with animals and since she has such mean parents who haven't given in to owning any such animals yet, we thought she at least DESERVED a zoo membership! :)

We have held out in hopes that someday we would see weather below the 100 degree mark. Seriously, it's fall... Arizona you need to get your act together! Well, Saturday was ONLY supposed to be 95 so we headed out to enjoy our nice fall weather LOL.

The zoo seemed to be a hit. Quincy's favorite was probably the petting zoo and, yes, Sunny let her pet the animals, but as soon as we left she was hosed down...errr, I mean sanitized head to toe. :)

Football and... an Apostle?! :)

We decided to take a spur of the moment drive and somehow ended up in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the Utah football game! :) When we first walked into our hotel lobby and spotted the refs for the game, we knew that it was either a good sign, OR at least we knew where they were staying if we needed to find them after the game. ;) We got there just in time to grab a bite to eat before the game, but Adam didn't want us to wear our Utah gear to dinner. Something about a time in Tucson where he is convinced that the cooks spit in his food since he was wearing his Utah shirt after they killed U of A. Being the good wife and daughter that we are, we agreed (and rolled our eyes while doing so! LOL) We ate, changed into our Utah red and headed for the stadium.

Poor New Mexico took quite the beating and Utah went on to crush.... I mean defeat the Lobos 56-14. The game was pretty much over by the end of the first quarter, but we freakin' drove seven and a half hours so there was NO way we were leaving early! Quincy even got a nap in during the 3rd quarter. It was THAT exciting of a game. :) We did get a little "action" in when the stadium lights went out during the second half. We got a 20 minute intermission while they figured out how to turn the lights on. That was probably the "brightest" play of the night.... get it?! Oh yes, we think we are funny! :)

We headed back to the hotel after the game and since we didn't need to "find" the refs, tried to turn in. Remember Quincy's nap during the third quarter? She was re-charged and sleep was not in her plans! Soooo, we entertained ourselves the best we could in a 10 by 10 hotel room and MAYBE fell asleep a little after midnight. At exactly 3:30 am our alarm went off. Yes, we intentionally set it, once again confirming we are a bit crazy. ;) Adam and I changed into our Sunday best, packed up our luggage and carried Quincy to the car sleeping, in her pajamas with a MAJOR rooster. We had heard that Elder Scott would be speaking in Pinetop that Sunday and since it was pretty much on the way and only 4 hours from where we were, we knew we wanted to attend. 4 hours and and some flashing lights later, Adam was being pulled over for speeding. LOL (Ok, Adam didn't think this was as funny as I or I am sure the rest of you do!) He managed to get off with just a warning when we explained to the Officer exactly what we were doing, how we had to wake up at 3:30 am and that we were just trying to get to church. Really, who could make that story up?!

We pulled into the church parking lot just in time! There is just a special spirit when you get to sit in the same room as an Apostle of the church. How grateful we are that we were able to attend and hear his message. We stopped by our family cabin on the way out of town to see Sunny's grandparents and for Adam to catch a few zzzzz's. We were exhausted by this point (hmmm... wonder why??)

Never a dull weekend in our home and we wouldn't have it any other way!

While we are at the cabin, we were able to celebrate my Grandma's 80th birthday a little early! Our family put together a scrapbook for her, a memory "bucket" which contained memories that she can pull from daily and a video slide show that I put together. Seriously, my family is awesome and it all starts with my Grandma! :) Happy early birthday to one of the women that I look up to the most! We love you!!!

We also celebrated her "real" birthday with a second party at Rustler's Rooste! This is one of our FAVORITE places to go and we have had so many special memories here including our wedding reception, anniversary dinners and lots of birthdays! :) Quincy got to go down the famous slide for the first time and we even got to see what our dinner looked like before it made it to our plates. LOL (Sorry for any vegetarians reading this!!) Grandma, we hope your 80th birthday was as amazing as you are!!

When it's 115 degrees outside, it's definitely time to beat the heat! We loaded up the car and headed back up to the cabin to celebrate "Pioneer Day!" :) We didn't do too much celebrating, but we did manage to cool off a little... so all is good!

Our weekend consisted of hikes with Quincy in her new hiking backpack, eating, visiting, feeding ducks, rain storms and some good old relaxation! Man, is this post making us sound like old farts or what?! :)

4th of July Cabin Trip

Warning EXTREME picture overload!! We had such an amazing time at the cabin for the 4th and the only way to capture a glimpse of it is to BOMBARD you with pictures!! This year almost all of our family was able to make it up, including Sunny's Aunt and Uncle and their kids from Florida. We were definitely missing Sunny's sister, Hilary, but it's a good thing she didn't go up because our nephew would have been born on the side of the road on their way home. (See post below with pics of our newest nephew!) We spent time visiting, eating, continuing on with our tradition of the "family olympics" (Sunny's team won and it had NOTHING to do with the controversial egg race LOL), hitting up the rodeo, watching fireworks and spending time with some of the coolest people we know! (We definitely need to get out more! J/K!!) We are so grateful to celebrate the 4th of July and the wonderful country we live in. Thank you to all of our service men and women for sacrificing so much and enabling us to have the freedoms we have today! Special thanks to our favorite "Army guy," Sunny's Uncle Jon. We are so proud of you and missed you!!

We are the FAVORITE Aunt and Uncle... Again! Please help us welcome our newest nephew, Zac! Isn't he the cutest?! Congrats to Sunny's sister, Hilary and of course Matt too (we guess you may have played a little role, huh?!) :) Zac made his debut on Monday, July 5th while we were on our way home from the cabin. It's a good thing Hil didn't decide to take her chances and head north or poor Zac would have been born on the side of the road!! :)

Flashback Friday!

I am working on a video for my grandma's 80th birthday (shhh... it's a surprise!) and have come across some oldies but goodies, so I thought I'd share! These pics probably wont mean a lot to all of you in blogland, but, this is our blog... so tough! :)

I can't tell you how excited I was when I ran across this picture! I REMEMBER this day and never knew a picture even existed. This is my grandpa, my sister Lindsay (on the left), my uncle Jonathan (yep, he's younger than me!) and yours truly on the right. My grandpa used to take us for rides on the tractor around the cabin. We thought it was SO cool and sometimes if we were lucky, he'd even let us "drive!" This picture was taken within a year of his death. My grandfather was AMAZING! He delivered my sisters and me (he was an OBGYN), laid a foundation for all of us to follow and loved my grandma more than anything. More than twenty years later, I still have people come up to me to tell me stories of my grandfather. What a legacy he has left behind!

This next picture made me literally laugh out loud! (Sorry mom!!) Soooo.... I have only heard stories since of course I wasn't around, but I guess my mom was, how do you say it.... OBSESSED with the Osmonds growing up. She was convinced that she was going to marry Donny and my grandparents only encouraged it more by taking her to every concert, event, etc that they appeared at. Above is a picture of my mom and the Osmonds. I love it! My mom is SO cute and quite edgy with her short little dress (I was actually told this was long compared to some of her dresses LOL). If you look closely, you can see her grabbing for his hand. Just think, I could have had Donny for a dad!! :)

Happy Father's Day to the best husband and daddy around!! We love you SOOOOO much!! We decided to go with a super hero theme this year. ;) Quincy's shirt says "Daddy's My Hero." I couldn't find a shirt that went with my "vision" ANYWHERE for Adam, soooo... I made one instead. LOL Poor Adam will have to get used to wearing a cheesy t-shirt every year (take a look at last years here)! :) Excuse the poor picture quality of Adam in front of his banner. It looks like he's glowing... hmmmm... maybe he DOES have super powers after all?! :)

Can You Feel It...

The excitement that is! I have a VERY happy husband and probably some happy relatives as well(see the above pic of Adam and my father-in-law). :) The University of Utah has officially been invited to join the Pac-10 (or Pac-12 or whatever they are calling it now). Adam's words were something like... "You don't understand. I have been hearing rumors of this since I was a child." LOL Yea, I guess I don't quite understand, but whatever makes him happy! :) This means ASU and Utah will get to go head to head on a regular basis. I asked Adam who he'd be cheering for and he just gave me the "look." I don't care who he wants to win. All I know is Quincy and I will be dressed like this!

(Ok, maybe just Quincy... my cheerleading days are LONG gone!!)

One day Quincy will be able to reach the peddles on her new bike! :) In the meantime, she doesn't seem to mind us pushing her around (no pun intended!!) and she just LOVES the bell!! (Note to self: just get her a $2 dollar bell next time J/K!!)

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend we headed up north and went to the cabin! We had so much fun with Sunny's Grandparents, Aunt, Uncle and her FAVORITE cousins (this one is for you Paige! LOL). We were able also able to celebrate Quincy's birthday with Grandma and Grandpa Great since they wont be able to come down for the big shin-dig. Here are some pics of Quincy with the first of THREE cakes she had!! :)

When you're having fun! Yesterday, May 20th we were able to celebrate (not that everyday isn't a celebration in our house LOL) our wedding anniversary. We had so much fun at dinner talking about all that we have done, been through and what is yet to come. How lucky we are to be able to say we love each other more today than the day we were married! Happy Anniversary to us!! :)

Last year on Mother's day I was asked to speak in church on "choosing to be happy." Talk about a tough subject to speak on on that particular day! I have to tell you, Mother's day for me was always one of the hardest days and quite honestly, I usually chose NOT to go to church on that day. Something not to be proud of, but it's the truth. This year as I prepared to teach my lesson on Mother's day, I went back to my talk from last year. What a difference a year makes, huh?! I will forever be grateful to Morgan for giving me the gift of motherhood! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of her and see her in Quincy. I love being a mother!

Happy Mother's day to my amazing Mom, Mother-in-law and Grandmas! I am so grateful for all of you!
I also want to thank Adam for making my first Mother's day SO special! The poor guy about killed himself working hard to make sure EVERYTHING was perfect! I love you so much! Just think, only a few more weeks and you can get spoiled on Father's day!! :)

UP and AS aka Uncle Paul and Aunt Shilo (be careful when saying AS too fast!!!) came down for a short visit this past weekend. Ok, in all honesty, they drove down to claim our couches, but pretended like they wanted to see us too! :) We had such a good time with them - free bbq lunch, free bagels and free couches. What could be better?! We'll have to dig around our house to find some other things we no longer need so we can get them down here again real soon. We are so glad we got to see you guys and we hope the drive back wasn't too miserable. We love you and hope you enjoy your "new" couches!!

Gym Meet

What do you do when you have a Dad, Mom, 8 month old and Nonna together on a Friday night? You head down to ASU for the ASU vs. Utah gymnastics meet of course! :) Adam's Mom came down to spend some time with us... ok lets be real, Quincy, and we decided to try something new. We told her to make sure she packed her Utah shirt, which we were sure totally confused her. We're sure there is NO way she thought we'd be going to a gym meet. Nonna and Poppy got Quincy her first Utah shirt and Sunny was kind enough to let her be a traitor that night and wear Utah gear instead of ASU stuff. Just this once!! Seriously though, how could she resist when Quincy looked this cute in red?! :)

So a few days ago I saw none other than Sir Charles Barkley, Round Mound of Rebound and Hall of Fame basketball player on my drive to work. There was an idiot weaving in and out of traffic and cutting people off in a jet black CL 65 AMG Mercedes-Benz. For those of you who are not into cars, it's a $200,000 plus car. :) I was thinking to myself 'who is this moron?' To my surprise, when I finally caught up to the black car and looked over to see who the fool was, I saw this guy....

What do you do on a Saturday night when you don't have a babysitter and REALLY want to go the movies?! You go to the Drive-in of course! :)

We packed up Quincy, stopped at Someburros for dinner (duh!! LOL) and headed to a double feature at the local drive-in theater. For those of you who are wondering whether there are really still drive-in theaters... the answer is yes!

The first showing was "Blind Side!" LOVED it!!! (in a cheesy voice). Both Adam and I really liked the movie, however, according to Adam, there were some cheesy parts. Maybe so, but I think it was one of the best movies I've seen so far in 2010 and Sandra Bullock was amazing in it. One of her best roles since Miss Congeniality. :) HA!

The first movie went off without a hitch, with exception of a little fussiness from Quincy. The second movie we saw was "Sherlock Holmes." We drove (about 20 feet) over to the next screen and waited for the next flick to start. We were surrounded by 2 or 3 trucks filled with lots of young adults. They packed everything in their house up but the kitchen sink (now THAT saying makes me feel real old... thanks Grandma!) Seriously, they had an area rug, couch, the works... these people were prepared!!! It was an impressive display.

Adam liked "Sherlock Holmes," but Sunny dozed off around 10:30 PM or so... it was THAT good! :) A few minutes later, Sunny suddenly woke to ask Adam to turn the car engine on for a few minutes so our car battery wouldn't die. You see, at our drive-in theater, you listen to the sound through your own car radio so you leave the car battery on. Adam began to start our car and pretended (or at least that is what Sunny thought) that the battery died. No pretending here!! Our battery was officially dead, meaning not only did we get to watch the last hour of the movie in silence, but we were "stuck" in our car. Our car automatically locks from the inside after a few minutes. Once it locks you cannot open it from the inside unless you use the keypad. Since our car battery was dead, we could only manually unlock the car. Unfortunately, if you open the car from the inside without the keypad, you will be alarmed (pun intended) to find out that the car alarm sounds. There was no way we would humiliate ourselves around all our young neighbors - and it was only courteous of us not to ruin the movie for everyone else, sooooo... we sat in silence as our car windows started to fog up from our hot and heavy breathing! :) Really, our windows did fog up because it was cold outside (by Arizona standards) and there were three of us breathing (nothing else was going on, trust us) inside. We couldn't help but laugh and were sure that our "neighbors" thought there was something more going on inside. Little did they know that we were stuck inside, holding a sleeping baby, watching the BEST (sense the sarcasm) movie ever. :)

When the movie FINALLY got over, we opened the door and, sure enough, the alarm sounded off. I'm sure we looked helpless and stupid. In fact, we must have looked so pathetic, that our neighbors, who brought everything but the kitchen sink (including jumper cables), jumped our battery and we were off faster than you could say drive-in theater. At our house, there is NEVER a dull moment!!!

Friday, January 15th, Quincy decided she was sick of scooting around on her belly and is now up on all fours. She's not crawling yet, but the baby gate is ready... We are not!! :) What happened to our LITTLE baby!?!?!??!

On a side note... Sunny's photo skills are getting pretty awesome, huh?! This is what you get when you take a pic with a camera phone on the floor of your master bedroom. :)

And not that any of you care about these next fun facts, but we want them "documented" somewhere... Quincy figured out how to drink from a straw on Saturday, January 16th and now Sunny's Sonic drinks are her favorite treat! Good luck getting Mom to share those, Quincy!! :) AND, tonight, January 19th she sat up from lying on her back all on her own. Like we've said before... our kid is a genius!! :)

Temple Christmas Lights

The tradition continues... this time with the "next generation!" The day after Thanksgiving we headed down to the Mesa Temple to see temple lights. First, we stopped at our favorite "dive" restaurant for some Mexican food and then we saw the lights. You can't expect us to walk around on empty stomachs, can you?! This is the best family picture you can expect right now. You try getting a 6 month old to look at the camera! :)

We have SO much to be thankful for this year as we celebrated Thanksgiving!! This year for Thanksgiving, we did things a LITTLE different. We celebrated at our house with just the three of us and for those that are wondering, NO takeout! :) There was actual home-cooked food with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and even REAL whipped cream made from scratch!! Sunny would also like you all to know that she received a call a few days prior to Thanksgiving from one of our good friends asking for a recipe... HA!!

Radiohead

The other night Adam was running some errands with Quincy and decided to introduce her to the band, Radiohead. When he went to take her and her car seat out, he noticed that Quincy had pulled her bow (and headband) down over her eyes. We're still trying to figure out whether it was because Quincy was rocking out to the tunes or trying to cover her ears. :) So far, her favorite band is still The Doors! :)

Blessing Day - November 8, 2009

On Sunday, November 8th, Quincy was given her baby blessing at church by her daddy! We were so excited to be able to share this day with family and friends. A father's blessing is such a wonderful thing to be given and Adam did an amazing job!

Some quick "highlights" included:

Blessing her with the knowledge that Heavenly Father loves her.

Blessing her to know how much we love her and how many friends and family love her as well. Blessing her with a strong and fervent testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and that she will be faithful to her testimony.

That she will desire righteousness and choose the right.

That she will seek out higher education and higher learning.

That she will develop her talents and use them to help others as well.

That she will be an example to others and a leader among her peers.

That she will be healthy and strong and live a long, healthy life.

That when the time is right, she will meet a man who honors his priesthood and will take her to the Temple to be married where she will then have a family of her own.

In the circle were:

Adam, Poppy, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Uncle Jason, Great Uncle Anthony, Art and Bishop Trendler.

After church, we had all our family and friends come over to our house for some "grub." Nothing like honey baked ham, rolls, cheesy potatoes and pumpkin pie to finish of our celebration! We are so grateful that so many of our friends and family came to support Quincy. She is a very lucky girl to have all of you in her life!
