Friday, May 29th, Morgan sent us a text message telling us she was 1.5 centimeters dilated and 70% effaced! She said her doctor thought she would go before her scheduled induction. Needless to say, we were EXCITED!! Sunny called Adam immediately and told him she thought we should head up to Utah so we were only a few hours away instead of 16 hours away from Idaho. He quickly agreed. We called our family members to let them know we were going to leave the next day (Saturday, May 30th) to head up to SLC. They all thought we were nuts :)
We spent that night packing all our stuff. Quincy's "stuff" had been packed for a few weeks, but we had not packed any of our stuff yet. We quickly got our gear together and prepared to leave for Utah early the next morning.
The drive wasn't TOO bad! Sunny had never made a car trip that long before, but Adam was an old pro and got us there as quickly and "painlessly" as possible. We pulled into SLC around midnight that night.
Sunday morning we awoke in preparation to attend a family party for one of Adam's cousins. Sunny was talking to Adam's dad who was telling us that we would be waiting in Salt Lake for a week before Morgan went into labor and Adam was down ironing our church clothes. At that time, Sunny thought she had heard her cell phone ring. Sure enough, there was a missed call from a 208 area code. Not knowing who it was, she called back to find that it was Morgan's Mom. Morgan was at the hospital and they were admitting her... It was time!!!
Sunny yelled down to Adam who at that point was already throwing our stuff back in the car. We left Adam's parents house and were headed right to Poky! Since our gas light was on at this point, we decided we probably should stop and get gas first :)
We left SLC at 12 noon. We drove as fast as possible and both of us were pretty much in disbelief at this point. During our whole drive, Morgan kept us updated with text messages. What a trooper! In labor and sending us text messages the whole time :) Here are a few of them so we can have them "documented" somewhere!
12:24 PM Drive Safe! :)
I'm having contractions 2-4 minutes apart and can't even feel them.
They broke my water.
I'm on the 3rd floor in room 2.
We got to the hospital around 3:00/3:30. At this point, Morgan was on Pitocin and definitely feeling her contractions now! She still had not received an epidural. The anesthesiologist had been called into an emergency c-section and was not available. When we got to the room we were greeted by a hug from Josh. Morgan's Mom and Dad, sister, her fiance, Josh's Mom and sister were already in the room when we arrived as well. It was a full house! She was dilated to a 6 when we got there. Less than an hour later... 9 1/2!!
